Description Landscapes: Mural de la Prehistoria, Pinar del Rio. Cuba
Being intrinsic part of the attractive valley and its mogotes of unsurpassable natural beauty, it is located at Pinar del Río-based Viñales Valley, one of the major places of great tourist attraction in the Cuban western province. It is the Prehistory Mural and as part of the comfortable environment amidst the countryside it boasts an assorted cafeteria and a restaurant, plus the charming camping Dos Hermanas. In this Mural, Cuban artists have portrayed pre-historical moments of the territory, where archeologists and some other researchers have found evidences of the geological development along millions of years.

Because of the richness, variety and excellent preservation of its flora and fauna, Pinar del Río is called "the garden of Cuba." UNESCO has declared the Guanahacabibes Peninsula and the Rosario Mountain Range biosphere reserves, and the Viñales Valley a world cultural heritage. The land in which the world's best tobacco is grown also offers you wonderful opportunities for scuba diving, hunting, fishing or simply relaxing and tanning at the beach.,
Since the 19th century, Havana residents have been drawn by the natural beauty of Vueltabajo, and they have flocked to Los Portales Cave, to San Diego de los Baños, to receive the benefits of its mineral-medicinal and thermal waters; and to the Viñales Valley, to gaze at its natural beauty.,
Pinar del Río is just 174 km (108 miles) from Havana. A good highway links the two cities. The architecture in its historic center is eclectic, and its low houses in gentle colors, whose porches seem to form an endless gallery, have great charm. On the outskirts of the city, modern buildings break its horizontal lines. ,
When visiting Pinar del Río's provincial capital, be sure to tour the Guayabita del Pinar Distillery, where the drink of the same name is still made by hand, following an age-old recipe; the Guash Palace, the Milanés Theater and the Rumayor Cabaret.,
Quiet, comfortable hotels have been built in some of the most beautiful spots in Pinar del Río, to facilitate your enjoyment of Nature. Cayo Levisa has a delightful, sunny beach, and the province also offer excellent opportunities for scuba diving, hunting and fishing. - Your first-hand experiences really help other travelers. Thanks!

Excellent
Hineinteresting Places
One of the green routes that awakes bigger interest among the visitors, is that of the Aquatic ones that drives from the Sierra del Infierno (where inhabits a rural community that surrenders cult to the water, attributing him healing properties) until the Dos Hermanas Valley, where it is enjoyed an enormous painting carried out on the wall of a hillock and baptized as the Prehistorical Age Mural. -

ManuelAmazing
It's big, but this attraction can't quite cut it as kitsch, is decidedly uninteresting as art, woefully inadequate as narrative, and just not impressive enough in execution to merit all the attention. Despite some fresh paint, which restored, and even improved on, the vibrant colors of artist Leovigildo González Morillo's original work, this massive mural lacks the style and weight of the works of his mentor, Diego Rivera. The mural is located 4km (2 1/2 miles) west of Viñales and is open daily from 11am to 5pm. The $1 admission is waived if you eat at the Rumbos-run restaurant on-site -

laudy13“Spoils a nice rock! ”
This place demonstrates how undeveloped Cuban tourism is, or perhaps how easy it is to create tourist traps! I would rather see the painting cleaned off the amazing mogote, but at least there are many others to see in their natural state! Buy a postcard, if you wish. But you don't need to visit it with all the tour buses. -

The pure nature of Vinales is more beautiful than Mural. Better visit Cueval del Indio or Mirador near to the Mural. And ride a horse! -

its interesting to see and the surrounding area is nice to look at. but dont be fooled by 'prehistoric' in the name, it only refers to a depiction of prehistoric times. -

MStJB“Painting by Numbers. Five out of Ten ”
Picture the scene. A great big Hilda Ogden ?Muriel? painted on the side of a limestone escarpment depicting the evolution of man from crustacean to homosapian. Quite a sight although close up, could do with a lick of paint. Nearby a tourist restaurant which does the best Pina Colada this side of Halifax (Yorkshire, not Nova Scotia). Dare I post... More -

The Valley , declared World Heritage a few years ago by UNESCO, is simply Unique, the only one of its kind on planet Earth, it is astonishing, and the land scape is truly picturesque and unbelievably colourful , for peaceful days or nights and total contact with untouched nature , this is the place to visit.
