Description Interesting Places: Pinar del Rio City, Pinar del Rio. Cuba
Just like any other rural cities in Cuba, it preserves a peaceful spirit reflected in its ornaments, columns, carvings, portals and ironwork, al coming together in an eclectic style which is the general characteristic of the city. There are several interesting buildings to be found in the city, such as the Museum of Natural Sciences (former Guasch Palace), an eloquent expression of Cuban eclecticism, built by Dr. Guash, a romantic scholar and multifaceted man; the Milanes Theater, built around the XIX century, a beautiful example of the neoclassic style of the city.
Other places of interest in the city are the Provincial Museum of History, the Museum of Visual Arts, as well as the Hermanos Loynaz Center, the latter containing the personal library of the poet Dulce Maria Loynaz, winner of the Cervantes Award in 1992.

Almost perfect landscape that has deserved the nickname of Garden of Cuba for it excellent nature. Also known by the fact of being harvested in lands of Vueltabajo the best tobacco in the world, this province of the west of the country that embraces 10 931,5 Km2, was baptized later in 1774, as New Filipina and four years later it became Pinar del Rio.

The inland city of Pinar del Rio is to be found roughly 150 km / 93 miles to the south-west of Havana, where it is something of a gateway to the beautiful province of the same name. The city itself holds some interest, with museums, brandy and tobacco factories, and a historic theatre (the Teatro Jose Jacinto Milanes), but the countryside is simply stunning, with limestone hills, deep caves and several prominent waterfalls. You can also see where Cuba grows its tobacco at the many plantations in the region.
